"Hey all of you in the NAYT in England. this is Brian (Britney) Whitney. I'm a member from Dublin Youth Theatre in Ireland and I just wanted to say hello and thanks. Your  links page is well informative and helped me lots in finding out information on youth drama in Ireland (I've lost the NAYD's web address but thank my lucky stars you had it)."

Brian Whitney aka Britney

"I think the NAYT is a really valuable cause, giving inspiration and training to many hopefuls. I'd love to join."

Helen Shutt

"Great site, very useful for me. I am at acting school in London and am doing my final dissertation on the NYT, of which I have been a member for a number of years."

Adam Lewis

"I am in my final year at Derby University studying Theatre and English. I am doing my dissertation on bringing theatre to the youth of today - an educational and political viewpoint. This website has been very useful."

Helena Wade

"Hey guys! I'm Scott Hutchinson, and I'm on the Festival Team for 2000 & 2001 (you can see me in the BYTF 2000 Gallery - the tall one with blue hair, presenting stuff and generally making an ass of myself). I just wanted to say that for anyone out there who hasn't been but is considering going to the BYTF, I can't tell you what a good decision it would be. The week I spent in Epping Forest taking part in the festival was without doubt among the finest times of my whole life - I'm going back this year as part of the team again, but even when I'm too old I'll be sneaking in inside Judith's suitcase. It's that good. Seriously. By the way, for all those of you who were there last year and may remember, Steph (my co-presenter on the opening night) and I are still going strong after nine months and plan to marry in a year or two, even though she did make me leave my beloved Leeds and move to Newcastle! Joke, Steph, joke... Finally, to everyone who made my festival such a wonderful experience (namely, everyone who was there) thank you! Hope to see y'all again in June!"

Scott Hutchinson

"I was stunned the moment I saw how many people you had had and that your website is up to date and very polite as it even says good evening!"

Daniel Jones (11)

"Hey NAYT! This year was so cool - can't wait until next year. My highlight was that band who played in the cabaret. They were cool - hope you have them back next year! Pure entertainment that was! Oh yeah and when will there be more pics of this year's events going on? See ya later."

"The website is great and getting better!  Just a note to say how much we enjoyed the BYTF - we were made very welcome even though this was our first visit and we were very impressed with the quality of productions and workshops.  We look forward to joining in next year.  See you there!"

East Anglian Youth Theatre

"The theatre dest was great 2000 and even better 2001 I hope to go again in 2002 as a member of the festival team."

"Hey! Just thought I'd write and say thanks a lot for a brill BYTF 2001! The weekend rocked! Cheers for all your hard work and everything, the performances and workshops were excellent."

Rebecca (14) Youth Create

"Hey! It's Charloss.  This year's festival was a brilliant one and I will never forget it! Mainly because I was part of the Festival Team but also all the new friends I made there as well. I do hope I'm able to come to next year's festival "GODS WILLING" and I shall be bringing the whole of the EAST LONDON THEATRE ROYAL crew with as well."

Charles MT (aka Charloss)

"Hi everyone. 2001 was the first time I went and it was BRILLIANT! I miss it already and wish I was there again. I am definitely going next year! Hope everyone I met is going again because I miss you all."

Jenna Smith (Manx National Youth Theatre)

"Hiya I'm Sally from Cumbria and I am a member of the National Youth Theatre. Interesting website!"

"I had a wicked time when at the youth fest in June it was so cool. You are the greatest! Hope to see you again next year!"

Amy Dean (Youth Create)

"I couldn't make it to this year's BYTF sadly :( But I can't wait until next year! BYTF is an experience of a lifetime. IT'S WICKED! Hopefully it will be as fantastic next year as the other year's have been. I'm sure it will be!"

Katie Weller (Changeling Youth Theatre)

"Hey everyone! This is Jonny, the tall Irish guy from the festival team. I just want to say thank you to everyone there at this year's BYTF who made it the best festival I've taken part in so far because it was EXCELLENT! A big shout out to ODYT and my own TIDY Theatre Company and I hope to see everyone at BYTF 2002!"

Jonny (TIDY Theatre Company)

"As someone who was on the original national executive that formed the association, it's good to see it so active and alive"

Zane

"BYTF is the best! I've only been once but I am definitely going to go back. I learnt so much and had a fantastic time!"

Adam (Hazlitt Youth Theatre)

"Hey people! Hope you all had a good time at the big youth theatre festival.  2001 was the second time I've been and it was as good this year as it was last. I intend to go again 2002."

Matt Wood (Calderdale Theatre School)

"Hey everyone! This is Hayley (yes Jonny, the one with the Leicester accent). This summer's festival was fantastic in every way. If you have not yet experienced being on the festival team, I recommend it. Ok, so it was hard work, but being able to work so well as a team with people you've only just met is the best experience. See you in 2002."

"Leicia here! I was part of the team 2001, and it was PHAT! Had loadsa fun, made loadsa mates and will be back next year. I'll never forget it, Scott keep singing, Ella keep asking if we're "all right?" and I'll keep making the tea. See you all next year from the Leicester Lass."

"Hello again! This is Scott Hutchinson, once more making my annual pilgrimage to the NAYT website (much prettier than before, by the way guys - nice job, but where are the BYTF pics of Toni? Did I imagine her there this year? Presumably you must have put them in the file marked 'Blackmail material'...). I just wanted to say that BYTF 2001 was, if anything, even better than last year. And to the 2001 Festival Team (feel the capital letters, people) in particular; it was all the greater for having the best bunch to work with. Thank you all, and everybody that came along, for making my BYTF another indescribably wonderful experience. Absolutely gutted that I can't do it any more, but I'll still be there next year, even if I have to walk to the Lookout from Newcastle. And all of you: stay in touch! My email (if Judith or the new Webmaster will be so kind as to leave this bit in) is hutchinson_scott@hotmail.com - write soon! Or Judith has my phone number if you can't get to a computer...

Incidentally, if anyone is interested, Steph and I are STILL together, and stronger than ever after 16 months as a pair of struggling actors. We are now both acting full-time, though (no day-jobs!), so it would seem that the struggle is nearing an end...

The Big Youth Theatre Festival: Three days that just might change your life forever. It worked for me.

Big love

Scott

"Hello to everyone in NAYT, Lyn Cunningham from S.T.A.C.K. Youth Theatre in Ireland. Congratulations on a great website, hope to talk to ye all again and keep up the good work."

Lyn

"Hey hey kiddies the Village Idiots are making a come back to your lovely festival. We'll be bringing our debut CD which will be 4 quid each. No euros please we're manx. OK see you all then."

The Village Idiots

"Hey everyone, just like to say that this year was my first at the festival and it was fantastic - really something I'll remember forever. I'm already counting the weeks to 2003's. Just like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to meet the great people I did and have learn all the things I did."

Erin, Cumbernauld Youth Theatre

"Heya... Just thought Id say thanks for a great BYTF (even though I did loose my voice). Thanks for the lack of foxes and the great shows. I'll be back next year."

Becca Edwards (The Youth Create kid with the loud voice)

"A big thank you once again for a well organised event. Well done event team! The members had a fantastic time and are already asking what performance they can take next year. Hope to enjoy another NAYT event in the near future."

Michelle Cunningham (South Leeds Youth Theatre)

"Hello, I've just been to the Festival and it was absolutely without a doubt the best thing ever, I had so much fun and felt I could just go up and talk to everyone. Thanks to everyone and the Festival team, see you next year. Everyone should get involved in this it's fantastic!"

Rachel (Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough)

"Hello this is Phil Mitchell (no EastEnders jokes please). I am now an ex-member of South Leeds Youth Theatre as I now have other responsibilities such as a mortgage, a car, a cat and a partner. But I must say I had a great time at Epping Forest over the past 4 years. You have the freedom to do what you want and it was fantastic. If you have never been before go because you will love it!"

"Hello, it's John from Cherrybomb and ex Festival Team member. I would like to thank NAYT - and especially the festival team - for an absolute cracking 2002 Festival. Although I was a bit sad not to be part of the Festival Team, I am sure that time will heal the scars and the urge to help out diminish. I would like to give a massive shout out to all the Festival Team members from 1999 and 2000 and all the theatre companies for whom I was their buddy. Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who have been and supported Cherrybomb over the last 3 years and a special thank you to Kate, our buddy. You rule!"

John Dearnley (Cherrybomb)

"You may remember me. My name's Robin and I'm a member of the Cumbernauld Youth Theatre (from north of the border) who was at the Festival. But you may remember me as the guitar player in the Singing Mouse duo. Unfortunately it looks as if CYT will not be attending this years festival due to shortage of dosh (money). But myself and Gerry (the blonde mouse guy) may be taking our mouse duo busking on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Festival, So if anyone went last year and remembers us and will be up north for the Edinburgh Festival and sees us doing our thing come up and speak to us. Enjoy this year's Festival, all those who are going as we are not :(."
Robin (Cumbernauld Youth Theatre)

"Anyone remember drama summer schools at Cheltenham college during the late seventies, early eighties? Was it the young peoples theatre ass. who ran them? something to do with the British Theatre ass? One of the tutors was Michael Deacon but cant remember the rest. I've tried friends reunited and trawled the net but found nothing. If this rings any bells please get in touch."

tonyradio@hotmail.com

"Hello everyone, this is Coling. I just got back from BYTF X and had the best time ever. I saw loads of great performances, did loads of workshops, but the best times were in the amphitheatre late at night. It was so much fun performing and watching others just getting up and performing. I'm definitely going back next year. It's been amazing. Love."

Coling (Jackass Youth Theatre) (Noah in The Flood for anyone who was there)

"Got back from BYTF 2003 yesterday! I had an amazing time! Last year was also fun! I'm definitely coming back next year! Thanks NAYT!"

"Hi this is Rob and Sam, ex-members of South Leeds Youth Theatre. We would like to shed light on the fact that the Big Youth Theatre Festival is no doubt the best place to pass a few days of summer. We would also like to say the workshops are so much fun. Try Sin Cru stars Jo Knowles and Kevin Tomlinson from Kepow Theatre - you'll love 'em. At the discos be sure to make yourself known and make sure you dress up and make the most of it - it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Well, have fun and thanks to all of you for making the experience very memorable. PS Please, please forget the south Leeds transvestites. It was a scary thing to do and when Andy bent over in the thong eeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww. Thanks everybody you were all great."
