Dear Colleague

After much thought, it is with a degree of sadness that I have given my notice to the Board of NAYT. Having spent the last five years with the organisation, I feel that it is time for me to move on. With many changes going on within NAYT I have agreed to stay on a full-time basis until the end of August 2003.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support and encouragement I have received whilst with the organisation and to wish you all the best for the future.

The arts and young people
NAYT has recently been involved with discussions with other national providers of arts provision to young people outside of school. Convened by Youth Music, discussions have centred on a sector-wide approach for additional infrastructure support. The proposed paper will be available on the NAYT website for comments.

PASS THE STAGE, a major sharing event open to youth theatre leaders and senior youth theatre members, will be held Sunday 9 November 2003 at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford. The event will combine workshops, a youth theatre forum, a games exchange and specially commissioned youth theatre performances. Moreover Pass the Stage will provide an opportunity to meet others providing excellent theatre and drama work for young people from across the region. Details are currently being finalised and more information will be forthcoming.

We have received a number of requests into the office regarding qualifications and/or certificates for youth theatre members.  If you currently run an accredited scheme or issue certificates to youth theatre members would you be willing to talk to other youth theatres about your experiences.  If so please let us have details at the office on 01325 363330 or email nayt@btconnect.com.  Thank you.
