ARCADE's Spotlight Youth Theatre is looking for a Musical Youth Theatre Director

Job Description

ARCADE's Spotlight Youth Theatre, established in early 2023, works with Bridlington young people aged 11-18 to provide creative opportunities and projects to enhance their performance skills and wellbeing.

In 2025, young people will be rehearsing towards the production of Tim Minchin's version of Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical Jr. performing 27th-29th June 2025.

Spotlight Youth Theatre session's run 6:30pm-9pm every Wednesday at Spotlight Theatre Bridlington. The director will need to arrive at least 15 minutes before the session to set up with the producer before young people arrive.

Job Requirements

We're looking for a musical theatre professional who:

Has professional experience of directing and working in musical theatre.

Can teach singing, dancing and acting to enhance young people's skills and get show ready.

Will direct the show including musical numbers and choreography.

Have experience of teaching/facilitating with young people with a broad range of ages, and educational and behavioural needs.

Job Responsibilities

The project will start on Wednesday 29th January with one planning session with the ARCADE and Spotlight Youth Theatre producer taking place before this date (to be arranged with the director upon appointment of the role).

You will:

Work with the young people every Wednesday 6:30pm-9pm at Spotlight Theatre.

Supervise the technical rehearsal (Wednesday 25th June) and the dress rehearsal (Thursday 26th June)

Chaperone and provide notes during performance runs (Friday 27th evening, Saturday 28th matinee and evening, and Sunday 29th matinee).

Fee

The fee available for this role is up to £2500 inclusive of VAT depending on experience and number of sessions delivered.

If travelling from out of Bridlington, travel expenses will be covered to a limit of 45 miles each way.
