Assistant Director and Assistant Facilitators needed for two Kiln Creative Learning projects
Wednesday 8 August 2018
Assistants will help to set up workshops, keep track of registers, collaborate creatively with leaders on planning and delivery, and make observations of students’ progress, as well as supporting participants pastorally and with developing confidence, communication and drama skills.
We have 6 youth theatre groups that run across the year out across Brent. Young people aged 7 – 18 work with professional directors and writers to develop plays for our Mapping Brent Festival in April 2019. It is their chance to learn new skills, build their confidence, have fun, socialise and make theatre. We are currently looking for an assistant director who has experience working with young people to join our freelance creative team.
Minding The Gap
Minding the Gap is a drama project for young people who are newly arrived to the UK, forming part of their EAL/ESOL studies. We work in partnership with schools, colleges and charities to deliver creative projects and workshops, developing students’ confidence, language and teamwork skills. We tailor projects to the learning needs of students, working in partnership with EAL Leaders in formal and informal settings. Our projects are creative, fun and practical, run by specialist theatre practitioners. They enable students to engage with ideas, develop spoken language skills and confidence, and develop a creative output to be proud of. We are looking for an assistant facilitator with experience of working with young people to join our team. Any experience you may have working with young people who’s first language is not English, and/or any experience speaking other languages yourself would be a bonus.
The deadline for this application is Monday 13th August at 10am and we will be meeting people on Thursday 16th August between 11-3pm here at Kiln Theatre.
The general project dates are from September 2018 – April 2019 meeting once a week. Minding The Gap is mornings and Mapping Brent is evenings both projects take place within Brent.
