After successfully leading the School’s Drama Department for many years, Christian Burgess will step down in September 2018. We seek an outstanding individual to fill the role of Vice Principal, Director of Drama, driving further change and innovation. A member of the School’s senior team, this position will lead the development of new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, courses for young people and adults, as well as extending the offer within the Guildhall Young Artist programme. The School seeks to deepen its relationship with the Barbican and other cultural organisations in the City of London’s Culture Mile initiative, and increase opportunities for cross-disciplinary, international and industry partnerships.

Successful candidates will evidence an excellent knowledge and practice of the dramatic arts, in the widest sense, across a range of industry and professional platforms. They will bring collaborative practitioner networks which will enable innovation. Guildhall welcomes applications from leaders within performing arts organisations, festivals, theatres, screen and television as well as those already working in practise-based arts higher education contexts.
