NAYT 2020 Round-up
Monday 21 December 2020
In March, we started hosting monthly NAY-Teas on Monday mornings. These have been an opportunity for practitioners to come together, ask questions, share and chat. Over 120 people have joined us, and we’re energized by the conversations. We’re delighted to continue hosting NAY-Teas on the first Monday of the month at 11am. This year, we also held an initial Practitioners of Colour Network meeting, several sessions for Fund-raisers, as well as a new reciprocal offer for NAYT and NODA members.
Our In Conversation series featured livestream discussions with Evan Placey, Lucy Kerbel (Tonic Theatre), Sarah Brigham (Derby Theatre), Leo Skilbeck (Milk Presents), Warts & All, Reading Rep Young Company, Contact Young Company and 20 Stories High. You can watch these chats in the NAYT Members Area. Also in the Members Area, we added more interviews to the NAYT Recommendations page. Here playwrights Kevin Dryer, Natalie Mitchell, David Jarman, Laura Lomas, Jenna Drury and Rebecca Manley offer insight into their writing for young people.
Naturally, our annual training event Raising The Game could not take place in a physical space this year. However we are proud that 127 people from across the country attended Raising The Game Online through Zoom. A first for NAYT, we hosted webinars on Platforming Young Voices and Mental Health & Youth Theatre, also available to watch in the Members Area. Last month, we co-hosted a webinar with Tonic Theatre about their Platform Project and putting female voices centre stage, which can be viewed on YouTube.
We have some exciting plans moving into 2021 and ways we can support the sector. But if you have any suggestions, or anything you want to share, please let us know.
We wish you a happy festive season, hope you have a good new year and can’t wait to see you again in 2021.
