The Creative Learning department plays a key role in the delivery and development of the Artistic Director’s vision for the Lyceum Theatre.  As well as our very successful Youth Theatre, we offer a range of projects and programmes to schools from one off workshops to our large scale Creative Pathways interdisciplinary arts projects.  New developments for the department will include an adult engagement programme to run alongside our main season, community workshops and large scale community productions.

As part of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company’s commitment to developing talent, we are offering two paid internships for recently qualified theatre artists who are interested in developing a career in Youth Theatre and gaining experience as part of a larger Creative Learning programme.

The Lyceum Youth Theatre is one of Scotland’s biggest Youth Theatres, and runs an extensive programme of weekly workshops, holiday courses, outreach and performance projects.

Reporting to the Creative Learning Producer, successful applicants will work alongside the Youth Theatre Director, Creative Learning Officer and established theatre practitioners to plan and deliver drama workshops for Lyceum Youth Theatre.

The Interns will also be required to provide administrative support to the Youth Theatre as well as the wider Creative Learning department.  Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience of schools workshops and other Creative Learning projects and would be encouraged doing so. The Interns will receive training, practical experience and mentoring to support their learning and development.

This is a seasonal opportunity which will run from week beginning 3rd September 2018 – end of June 2019. We would expect anyone interested in the post to commit to the post for the full 10 months.  The salary for the post will be £7.83p/h. The post will require evening and weekend work. There is the possibility of additional hours being available during the year depending on demands of the department.
