Performances at Raising The Game North & South

Saturday 15 June 2019

For the first time since 2014, we are proud to have two Youth Theatre groups performing at Raising The Game North & South.

Leeds Playhouse Youth Theatre will be performing on the evening at Raising The Game North on 14th September, whilst Raising The Game South will feature an evening performance by Lewisham Youth Theatre on the 21st September.

Leeds Playhouse Youth Theatre will present rehearsed readings from Nick Hern Book's brand new MultiPlay texts.  The MultiPlay texts are a new initiative from Nick Hern Books to create more plays for large ensembles with appeal to teenage actors.  Not only an opportunity to see these fresh plays in action, YT Director Gemma Woffindon will work with the young actors to explore the texts in an informal workshop demonstration.

Lewisham Youth Theatre Senior Acting Company will perform Story of My Life by Dani Moseley.  Inspired by the work of JB Priestly, Story of My Life is about truth, lies and their twisted consequences. When Alexa can't be found at her 18th birthday party, her friends and family have to piece together what went wrong. Will they realise the part they each played in her sudden disappearance? The Senior Acting Company consists of young people aged 16-21 who have a passion for performance. Together with professional playwright Dani Moseley - herself a former LYT member, they developed Story of My Life from November 2018, first performing at the Broadway Theatre Studio, Catford in July 2019.

Raising The Game is NAYT’s flagship training event for Youth Theatre directors, practitioners and freelancers.  This year we are running two events, the North at ALRA drama school in Wigan 14-15th and the South at ALRA drama school in London 21-22nd Sept.

As well as these performances, attendees have the opportunity to take part in devising, physical theatre, vocal technique, text and other workshops designed for Youth Theatre leaders across the weekend.
