Trans Acting Workshop: West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds

Wednesday 11 April 2018

Trans Acting Workshop: West Yorkshire Playhouse,Leeds

Thurs 19 April, 5-7pm

This workshop is for young people (age 16-25) who identify as trans and/ or non-binary and are interested in taking an acting master class.

No experience of acting is required, and if you do have experience, you are welcome too. You might want to use some techniques used in the workshop to build your confidence for giving presentations or you might already know that you want to pursue training or a career as a performer.

The workshop will include some warm-up exercises that you would experience in a rehearsal room or in a Drama School setting. You will warm up your body, your mind and your voice. The session will include some work in pairs, concentrating on listening and responding to a partner. We work to create a safe and gender-inclusive environment in our workshops.

People who’ve been part of these workshops before, tell us that being able to do drama and acting techniques in a trans and/ or non-binary inclusive space is a great experience.

The workshop leader will be Barry Fitzgerald who is part of the GI TransActing project team and the Outbox project team. He also teaches at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

The workshop is a collaboration between Gendered Intelligence, Outbox Theatre Company and West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Once you have registered, please fill in this registration form:

If you are aged under 18, we will need consent from a parent/carer for you to attend the workshop.
