Derby Theatre is currently entering an exciting phase in its development and will be expanding its staff team over the coming months. We are currently seeking a motivated and creative practitioner and director who has experience of empowering young people, managing a team of creative practitioners and artists, and encouraging a diverse range of participants to engage in a wide range of projects.
As a Learning Theatre, this role is crucial to fulfilling our mission. The successful candidate will work closely with the Artistic and Learning teams to ensure the work we make with young artists and participants is of the highest quality and links in to our overall artistic vision. Knowledge of current issues and agendas in participatory arts are essential, along with knowledge of the national curriculum and safeguarding.
Programmes you will lead on will include Youth Theatre, Young Technicians, DT Ambassadors and a new company for 17 – 25 years olds, ensuring that it chimes with both our artist development programme (In Good Company) and the artistic vision of the theatre. The term “young artists” includes our undergraduate and postgraduate students, although we recognise that they might be mature students. Your work may also include some work with schools and early years settings.
We positively encourage people with disabilities or from minority ethnic backgrounds to apply to join our teams as they are under-represented within Derby Theatre’s workforce. We guarantee to interview any candidate with a disability or from an ethnic minority background who meets the essential criteria for the role.
Full details about this role can be found in the job description and person specification on our website. To apply please download and complete the application and diversity monitoring forms and return them to [email protected]. Please note CVs will not be considered.
