NAYT present a Regional Youth Theatre Festival for the Midlands, a day of workshops for Youth Theatre groups at the Regent Theatre, Stoke-On-Trent. The day is open to young people aged 11-16, with workshops running 10.30-12.30 and 1.30-3.30 with the opportunity to share a piece of theatre afterwards 4-5pm.
RYTFs are an exciting opportunity for groups to come together from across the region. Currently we have programmed two workshops programmed, and if there is a sufficient interest we are keen to programme more.
Tickets are £6 per participant, or £5 if your organisaton is a Member of NAYT. Youth Theatre leaders come free, but please note are responsible for young people travelling to/from the event and across the breaks.
This workshop will explore how physical theatre techniques can be applied to storytelling and scripted pieces. Using inspiration from companies such as Kneehigh, Frantic Assembly and Gecko the workshop will develop confidence and imagination in making physical choices in their creative projects with simple to apply, accessible ideas. Led by Sarah Stephenson who has over 20 years experience in the arts. Sarah runs her own Youth Theatre group, Unlimited Theatre, who predominantly work in a physical theatre style; winners of the Nottingham Young Creative awards last year.
This workshop unpacks the art of performance poetry, playing with language and ideas to produce exciting new writing. Fused with performance skills, learn how to deliver punchy poems as well as working together to produce a collaborative fusion poem of everyone’s ideas and voices.
Led by slam-winning poet Henry Raby. Henry is a play-wright, spoken word artists and gig host, published by Burning Eye Books and Artistic Director of York’s Say Owt Slam.
