Introducing... Steve Harris
Recently retired, Steve comes from a physical theatre performance background touring extensively around the UK and across Europe. He worked for 30 years developing and leading innovative and experimental theatre and education projects and was head of drama in an East London secondary school. He was director of the Half Moon Young People’s Theatre, Chair of the Greenwich Young Peoples Theatre and together with Graeae Theatre, established Double Exposure, the first ACE-funded touring theatre company with an integrated cast. Steve was also central to the establishment of the New Playwright’s Trust. He also ran the East London Youth Theatre Network which encouraged East London you theatre companies to operate strategically. In parallel with his hands-on theatre work Steve held the post of Senior Researcher with arts research consultancy Cultural Intelligence with whom he undertook a wide range of research and evaluation work for arts organisations, local authorities and the Arts Council of England. More recently Steve has worked closely with the founders of the Arcola Theatre in Hackney to establish it as a vibrant venue for new work and for youth theatre.
