London, Polka’s Learning Department - Freelance workshop leaders and assistants
Tuesday 31 October 2017
Based in Wimbledon since 1979, Polka creates world-class theatre to entertain and inspire young audiences. Over 90,000 children visit Polka every year to experience engaging, fun and exciting theatre, often for the first time. We strive to spark the imagination, stir the emotions and fuel a sense of discovery in all children. Learning and participation is at the heart of Polka’s work, encouraging children to explore and develop creatively. We offer opportunities for all children up to 14 years old, regardless of ability, culture or background, to engage in the arts through a regular programme of holiday workshops, term-time groups, school workshops, community engagement projects and our Arts Access programme. Polka’s Creative Learning Department is looking to expand our pool of freelance workshop leaders and assistants. We are interested in working with theatre practitioners with a wide set of skills and experience including early years, dance and movement, devising, craft, physical theatre drama, puppetry and working with SEND groups. We require our practitioners to be ambitious, enthusiastic, creative and reliable. Successful candidates will be required to work across and around London (travel expenses will be reimbursed). Work will be offered from January 2018 on a freelance basis. You must have a current DBS (issued within the last 2 years). We encourage applications from all sections of the community. Polka Theatre strives to be an Equal Opportunities employer. The aim of our policy is to ensure that no job applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, class, race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, marital status, sexual orientation, age, physical disability, trade union activity, political or religious belief.
Competitive rates of pay. To apply to join our pool of freelance practitioners please send current CV and a brief covering letter stating your areas of expertise and interest to Head of Creative Learning Polly Simmonds [email protected].
