London, Rewrite - Creative Writing Facilitators

We bring together migrants and refugees with young people from London to create a supportive and creative community. Our remit is to challenge prejudice, racism and injustice through telling stories as voiced by the young people.
We are currently looking for Creative Writing Facilitators to join our team, and run Creative Writing workshops in Southwark to support young people to create creative writing pieces that will be entered into our Creative Writing Competition. Our Creative Writing Team will also take part facilitating in our new literacy and creative writing project aiming to boost literacy levels across Southwark and Lambeth due to launch in Sept 2018. We are looking for facilitators who have experience: leading Creative Writing workshops in schools. working with reluctant writers and those with low literacy levels and/or have English as an additional language. leading workshops with young people aged 11-18. running drama style games and activities to get young people on their feet and encourage them to engage. working (or willing to work) with a co-facilitator or assistant facilitator to team deliver workshops. has an understanding of a participatory arts approach that prioritises the voice and creativity of the participants and values all contributions. Is a professional writer (could be a poet, playwright, spoken word artist, novelist or other writing form)
supporting young people to write in a variety of forms
supporting young people to write about social justice or political issues.
sensitively supporting young people who may be vulnerable when writing from personal experience.
Currently holds a DBS check that is less than 2 years old.
Has at least one whole day a week available to deliver workshops between Mon-Fri during November and December 2017.
