At the National Association of Youth Theatres, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment for all young people involved in theatre. Our Pledge System is designed to empower youth theatres by providing the necessary policies and structures that ensure every participant feels valued and secure.

We recognize the transformative power of theatre in the lives of young people and understand the importance of creating spaces where creativity can flourish without barriers. By participating in our Pledge System, youth theatres can demonstrate their commitment to best practices in safeguarding, inclusivity, and accessibility.

Safeguarding Children and Young People in Your Care

A combination of policies and examples of how your organisation protects and supports the children and young people who access it.

  • Safeguarding Policy

  • Safeguarding Training Certificate (within 2 years)

  • Commitment to safe and open recruitment 

  • Behaviour/Anti-Bullying policy

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Adhere to Child Performance Legislation with Chaperones and BOPA

  • Child registration form/document (Allergies, Those who can collect, Media consent etc)

  • Comprehensive Registration Document
